Gene Napolitano, PhD

Gene has over 20 years of industry experience developing technology platforms, program management and leading multidisciplinary teams in drug discovery, in vitro diagnostics (genomic profiling, protein biomarkers) and overall R&D efforts in oncology and immunology.

Most recently, Gene was Vice President of R&D Operations at Nodality, a biotech company focused on cancer diagnostics and therapeutics where he directed R&D activities and oversaw the company project portfolio. Prior to Nodality, he was Vice President of R&D at Entelos, where he supervised research and collaborations in inflammatory diseases employing Entelos’ proprietary in silico bio simulation technology. As Vice President of Project Management and Operations at Iconix Biosciences, Gene directed laboratory operations and collaborations in the area of toxicogenomics. Formerly Director of Drug Discovery at Signature Bioscience, Inc. he was responsible for coordinating the activities of interdisciplinary groups involved in Signature’s drug discovery efforts. Prior to Signature, Gene established and managed the west coast laboratory of IGEN International, a detection-based technology company. He was a project leader in the allergy and inflammation program at Terrapin Technologies, Inc. (now Telik, Inc.) where he initially established and built the Molecular Biology group.

Gene did his postdoctoral work in molecular neurobiology at UCSF and received his Ph.D. in Molecular and Cell Biology from NYU School of Medicine. Gene earned his BA from State University of New York at Binghamton in Biology and German.
