In this month's seminar, Triple Ring Technologies is pleased
to feature guest speaker David Ewing Duncan talk about his
latest book:
In David's latest book Experimental Man: What One
Man's Body Reveals About His Future, Your Health, and Our Toxic
World (John Wiley, due out March 16, 2009),
he chronicles his own extensive personal testing in the realms
of genes, environment, brain and body. David was poked, prodded,
examined and analyzed in his quest to discover the extremes of
knowing oneself.
Using his own body as a way to make scientific data more
accessible, David reviews the current status of high technology
medicine and testing for healthy individuals. He covers what is
useful, and what is not, and what is coming in the future. He
also questions whether or not access to this data is helpful.
As he assesses this bold new world of self-discovery, he takes a
closer look at the emotional and philosophical impact of knowing
so much about oneself. Speculating on the implications of
predictive testing on politics, business, law, consumers,
society and the individual, he asks: do we really want to know
this much about ourselves?
