Greg Kovacs, MD, PhD

Chief Medical Officer

Greg has been a Professor of EE and Medicine (by courtesy) at Stanford University since 1991. Prior to joining Triple Ring, he served as President of Biosciences and later Chief Technology Officer of SRI International, and Director of the Microsystems Technology Office at DARPA. He co-founded molecular diagnostics venture Cepheid and the private equity fund Malibu IQ. Greg also served as the Investigation Scientist for the Columbia space shuttle accident investigation. He is a Senior Fellow at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle.

He has designed, researched, and taught analog/mixed-signal and biomedical circuits, MEMS, and biosensing and has done extensive full-system electronics design work. Greg has extensive experience with clinical trials from medical to extreme environments (altitude, microgravity, underwater). He holds 77 patents and has authored 186 peer-reviewed publications, several book chapters and one textbook.

Greg received a BASc in Electrical Engineering from the University of British Columbia, an MS in Bioengineering from the University of California, Berkeley, a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, and an MD from Stanford University.
