Jeff Perkins, PhD
Senior Scientist, Optical
Dr. Perkins has over 15 years of experience in the design and development of novel optical systems and components. He specializes in optical engineering, specifically focusing on complex optical system modeling, radiometry, LIDAR and sensing, quantum optics, fiber optics, and lasers. His previous experience has included the design of novel in-vivo OCT fiber probes, complex biophotonic optical systems, fluorescent imaging, single-photon and coherent LIDAR systems, and high-power fiber lasers and optics. His background has spanned complex LIDAR systems deployed in harsh environments, to high-power HEL laser systems, to complex fluorescent imaging systems. Jeffrey has 8 publications in the field of optical engineering and lasers, and has previously been a committee member of Novel Optical Systems Design and Optimization XVIII and XVIV at SPIE Optics + Photonics.
Jeffrey holds a BS in Physics from San Jose State University, and MS and PhD degrees in Physics from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
