Jeff Perkins, PhD

A physicist by training, Dr. Jeff Perkins received his M.S. and PhD in Physics from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and a B.S. in Physics from San Jose State University. Before joining Triple Ring, he worked for a variety of government contractors and bio-medical device startups, in a variety of roles ranging from Chief Engineer to Applications Scientist. Past projects have spanned a wide gamut, from solar concentrators to proteomics to the study and manipulation of optical quanta. His background extends from novel systems development for government clients to commercial optical systems design for manufacturing; notable previous efforts included bend-resistant high energy fiber lasers for space applications, single-photon counting LIDAR systems for atmospheric sensing, standoff LIBS and Raman detection and quantification, and all-fiber in-eye illuminators for photocoagulation. He is a member of the OSA and SPIE and has been a committee member for Novel Optical Systems and Devices at SPIE Optics and Photonics.
