Dr. Jeremy Ford is an Optical Scientist at Triple Ring Technologies, responsible for the design and integration of complex optical systems and sub-systems. He brings over a decade of knowledge in biomedical engineering, with specialized expertise in biomedical optics, light-based disease therapies, physiological sensing technologies, and advanced signal analysis.
Throughout his career, Jeremy’s experience has encompassed creating tissue-illumination systems, coding image and time-series data analysis pipelines to extract disease biomarkers for seizures and chronic pain, and developing optical methods to create preclinical disease models. Previously, at the Vanderbilt Biophotonics Center, Jeremy optimized the application of a photothermal neuromodulation technique for inhibiting neural sensory signals using optical-thermal simulations. During this time, he also created specialized optical devices to specifically target these neurons in bulk tissue.
Jeremy holds a B.E., M.S., and Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Vanderbilt University. He completed his postdoctoral research at the Gladstone Institute of Neurological Disease and has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications on infrared neural inhibition, antibacterial photodynamic therapy, and neurological disease.
